Speaking of Matt Dillahunty…

March 26, 2009 by Brandon | Leave a Comment

I’m sure that Mr. Dillahunty and the rest of the ACA in Austin, Texas will be thrilled about the news that the Texas board of education will not require schools to teach the “weaknesses” of the theory of evolution, which conservative religious morons have been trying to squeeze into the school curriculum in place of teaching intelligent design.

The only scary thing about this is that the vote was actually a split vote, but the split 7-7 vote upheld the previous decision made in Janurary that conservatives were trying to overturn.

Getting away from the batshit insanity of the Quiverfullers, I’d like to take a moment and focus on good ol’ Pennsylvania. My beloved home state.

We’ve got two things going on.

Numero uno. I’m absolutely delighted to say that the one and only Matt Dillahunty will be paying us a visit, delivering a lecture at Penn State’s main campus in State College this Tuesday, March 31st, at 6:30pm in 101 Chambers. Be there.

Second, I’m stealing a link posted by Matt on Facebook regarding blasphamy laws which are apparently still in effect here in my state. Apparently, a man tried to file for an LLC, calling his company “I Choose Hell Productions, LLC” and received a letter from the state denying his request because a business name “may not contain words that constitute blasphemy, profane cursing or swearing or that profane the Lord’s name.

You can bet your sweet arse that the ACLU is involved in this one.

I checked up on Mr. Darnell today. He posted a new blog, but it lacked any sort of apology for using me as a source. I also noticed something else.

My reply was never approved. I suppose that he didn’t want any of his followers to see what I had to say, and would prefer them to continue thinking that all godless liberal feminists think that people should have to have a license to have babies.

Mr. Darnell, you are an intellectually dishonest asshole.

A pilot who stopped to pray for his life instead of taking emergency measures to prevent his plane from crashing, which killed 16 others, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Where’s that lazy God when you need him?

Response To Nathaniel Darnell

March 24, 2009 by Brandon | 7 Comments

Nathaniel Darnell is the author of the Christian blog Persevero that quoted me saying I think that people should require a license to have children. Well, I decided to write a reply to that post of his. Of course, his blog posts require approval to be displayed, so I don’t know if it’ll ever actually see the public on his site, but at least I know he’ll read it. Enjoy.

Thanks for the boost in traffic to my blog there Nate. I just wanted to stop by to say that I do indeed think people should require a license to have children. If you need one to drive a car or teach or to take care of people in a nursing home, it follows that you should need to prove yourself worthy of handling a child of your own by taking a simple class to verify you have the capability to do so.

However!

While this is my personal opinion, this is not at ALL the opinion of the VAST majority of anyone you are talking about (humanists, atheists, feminists, or the left) and to quote my personal opinion as though I am some sort of authority on the matter and to paint a broad brush over these groups is extremely dishonest for such an upstanding Christian gentleman as yourself.

I look forward to your post where you clarify that your footnote is nothing more than the personal ranting of a 26 year old artist and not the opinion of even a small meaningless minority of anyone on the left

Cheers.

What is Fractal Wrongness?

The state of being wrong at every conceivable scale of resolution. That is, from a distance, a fractally wrong person's worldview is incorrect; and furthermore, if you zoom in on any small part of that person's worldview, that part is just as wrong as the whole worldview.
