Early Morning Blasphemy

June 14, 2009 by Brandon | Leave a Comment

Yesterday was my last day at work before starting a new position in the company, so after my shift a few of my friends decided to take me to the bar, located conveniently across the street.

By 7:oopm, I was thoroughly trashed and when I got home I abruptly passed out on my couch, not waking up until after 3am. I’ve been up the last few hours, still feeling a little woozy, but decided to try to get something accomplished.

You’ll note, to your right, that the recent comment section is slightly different. The avatars are much smaller and there is now an excerpt of the comment in question. My original intent was simply to just upgrade various plugins that are out of date, but you know that “fixing” that which isn’t broke always leads to problems. Sure enough, updating one of the plugins, for whatever the reason, screwed with my recent comment section, throwing it all out of whack. So it took me a bit of time to find a new plugin that I liked, and I ended up with that one.

Additionally, I found a nifty little feature in the new version of Wordpress called Press This. Basically, it’s a link that sits up in my browser’s favorites section, and when I highlight text on a webpage and click the “Press This” link, I get this:

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – A jury has found five New Zealanders guilty of manslaughter in the death of a family member during an exorcism ceremony to drive a “makutu” or Maori curse from the woman.

Nine family members of the victim, Janet Moses, 22, performed an exorcism on her in October 2007, forcing water into her mouth and eyes to flush out demons and lift the makutu.

via Relatives convicted in ‘bizarre’ exorcism death – Asia-Pacific – msnbc.com

Except it pops up in a Wordpress post window, all filled out with an article title, ready for me to just click “Publish”. I like it.

Adding A Little Humor

June 7, 2009 by Brandon | 5 Comments

You’ll notice that I dropped the T-Shirt Hell add up above and replaced it with a Clone Trooper. And I took off the random “wrong” phrases and swapped that out with random phrases for the Clone Trooper.

Why the Clone Trooper, you ask? It’s a sort of internet meme for atheists on Fark’s religious flamewar threads. It’s been used as a good thing and sometimes as a bad thing, but I find it amusing. The first instance of it, created by a Farker named GilRuiz1, depicts a mass of Stormtroopers poised to fire at Han Solo. The Stormtroopers are labeled as “Farkers,” while Solo is labeled as “Bevets,” who is a religious fundamentalist on Fark. This is generally how any thread that touches on religion ends up; a mass of atheists bashing a sole theist, who continues to post illogical nonsense without realizing they’ve completely lost.

The image became popular and GilRuiz1 made more, as well as other people creating their own images. Some of the fundies on the site try to hijack the idea by showing marches of Stormtroopers, suggesting atheists have some sort of hivemind, or are a militant army.

If you have any suggestions for quotes, post a comment and I may add them. I don’t have very many as of now and wouldn’t mind a few more. It’s easy to find short and stupid theist quotes, but atheist quotes tend to be rather long and verbose.

Fractally Wrong Mobile

April 10, 2009 by Brandon | 1 Comment

For those of you who have a mobile device, I have great news for you. You can now get your blasphemy on the go with Fractally Wrong Mobile.

What do you have to do? Nothing. Just load up the website like you normally would and you’ll be presented with a super simple mobile interface. You don’t even have to go to mobile.fractallywrong.com or anything like that, the site will take care of it for you.

If some of you like viewing the normal site on, say, your iPhones or iPod Touches, you can still do so by either following the link at the bottom of the mobile site or going to http://www.fractallywrong.com/?nomobile.

Right now the mobile interface is kind of ugly, but I will be working on it to make it a little prettier.

I’ve Sold Out

December 5, 2008 by Brandon | 1 Comment

Well, sort of. I never wanted to place any banner ads on this site or anything, but why not try to make a little money, right?

At least it’s something I actually support. T-Shirt Hell is a site that sells… less than tasteful shirts. I own quite a number of them. The newest one I’m thinking about obtaining is “Men Who Wear Sandals Get What They Deserve“. It’s rather amusing.

Not all of their shirts are anti-religious in nature, but there are quite a few of them, and so that’s why I fully support them and am happy to actually link to their swag.

So Much To Say

September 11, 2008 by Brandon | Leave a Comment

So it’s been a little bit since I posted anything. The site was down for some time as well due to the server bloating with spam comments on an old forum I forgot about. My bad.

In any event, expect a flurry of posts to follow.

What is Fractal Wrongness?

The state of being wrong at every conceivable scale of resolution. That is, from a distance, a fractally wrong person's worldview is incorrect; and furthermore, if you zoom in on any small part of that person's worldview, that part is just as wrong as the whole worldview.
