Not In Mah ‘Murica!

August 18, 2010 by Brandon | 2 Comments

I’ve been silent for quite some time, but I can’t let the story about the infamous Ground Zero Mosque go without weighing in on it.

The sheer amount of bigotry coming from the Right regarding this issue is staggering, so much so that it’s overflowing and forcing some cowardly members of the Left to side with the idiot masses. Like Harry Reid, who had the choice of either siding with the stupid in hopes of saving his seat, or standing up for what’s right.

It should come as no surprise that I’m completely in favor of building this mosque, and I find all of the arguments against it to be nothing more than thinly veiled fear-mongering. The very suggestion that we should not allow any religious group to build a place of worship on private property goes against the foundation of this country and everything it supposedly stands for. Of course, those who claim to so rabidly defend the Constitution are ironically the same group of mouth-breathers who are now rabidly doing their best to shred it.

I may hate religion. I may sometimes find the reasons people believe in invisible sky wizards to be silly, like believing in unicorns. Or faeries. Or anything else a 4 year old might think exists. But that doesn’t mean I think they shouldn’t have the right to believe it, or practice it. Our rights aren’t determined by a popular vote. That’s why we have the Constitution.

When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

Guess what? It’s here.

Everybody Loves Blaming The Jews!

April 13, 2010 by Brandon | 1 Comment

The Catholic Church is on a roll; the other week, it was some esteemed Catholic exorcist blaming the Church’s pedophilia woes on Satan himself, but as we all know, there is only one thing more evil than Satan…

Wait for it…

The Jew.

Yes, the wily Jew is to blame. I mean, they’re so bad that they’re literally grabbing priests by the hands and forcing them to rub the private areas of children, all the while cackling nasally with glee.

At least, that’s what Bishop Giacomo Babini would like you to believe. In an interview that is too psychotic to make up, the retired bishop charges the “eternal enemies of Catholicism,” the Jews and the Freemasons, for concocting this hysteria over the Church’s “alleged” abuses. But mostly it’s those pesky Zionists. The good bishops says, “deep down, historically speaking, the Jews are God-killers.” God-killers indeed. That’s why I absolutely love the Jews. They do my work for me.

But Babini didn’t stop there, he also concluded that the Jews brought the Holocaust upon themselves, stating, “Don’t believe that Hitler was merely crazy. The truth is that the Nazis’ criminal fury was provoked by the Jews’ economic embezzlement, by which they choked the German economy. [Their] guilt is graver than what Christ predicted would happen to them, saying ‘do not cry for me, but for your own children.’”

I’m really enjoying watching this. Every day, a new article comes out with some new allegation, some zany denial of the allegations, or what have you. The Church just doesn’t get it, and I know they’re in trouble when I heard one particular person state that even they will no longer make any attempt to defend the Church from criticisms.

You know who you are. Welcome to the Dark Side. I baked cookies.

In other news, you may have noticed the new Retweet button on the blog, placed in an effort to utilize Twitter to gain more readers. If it annoys you, too bad, so sad.

The Church Is Trolling Us

April 2, 2010 by Brandon | 2 Comments

Blame it all on Satan. That’s what the Catholic church is apparently doing. After the media’s frenzy of attacks on the Vatican and the pope, a “noted” exorcist in Italy came out and said that all of this is the devil’s doing; specifically, the Prince of Darkness is apparently using the New York Times as his mouth piece to comdemn the church’s pedophilia.

Wait, what? Is this idoit serious? No, he can’t be. This guy has to be a troll. I mean, what priest would honestly state that the condemnation of pedophilia and those who cover up pedophilia is evil?

Apparently this guy also thinks that stating that priests are just men and can get tempted by the devil to diddle the kiddles makes everything ok. No, it doesn’t. Here’s some advice, Church. You lost this one. Face it. Ratsinger? Step down. You’re already a disgrace and if you really care about protecting your Church’s image, that’s what you’ll do. Give all information regarding the pedo-priests you’ve protected over to the appropriate authorities for investigation. Then, and only then, will you actually gain some kind of redemption in the public’s eye.

Welcome To The End-Times

March 29, 2010 by Brandon | 4 Comments

I’ve realized that yet another month has slipped away without a post, and let’s face it, it’s been a busy month. I figured I might as well break in my new netbook and write a post as I’m watching Stephen Colbert play with a set of finger puppets representing the ten plagues of Egypt. Which reminds me, happy Passover to my Jewish friends.

So where do I begin?  I suppose the best thing to start with is the obvious. We’ve officially been ushered into the End-Times with the passing of the health care reform bill. And the Republicans are dead-set on making sure that their prediction comes true, with the rounding up of Christian militias and death threats against congressmen. And what does the leader of the Moral Majority have to say about all this? Well, Michael Steele was unavailable for comment, because he was busy spending nearly $2,000 in a lesbian bondage strip club. Not really my cup of tea, but hey.

Seriously though, I really can’t wrap my mind around the right’s objection to health care reform. Not only that, but I’ve actually had to defend Christianity against other Christians, who under the wing of the likes of Glenn Beck, honestly believe that Jesus wouldn’t have supported a bill which extends health care to 32 million uninsured people at the cost of others’ hard earned money. Pure socialism! Jesus never would have supported paying taxes… oh, wait. He did. Ok, well. He never would have supported me giving my money to… oh? He said to give all my money to the poor, too? And feed them? And give them my extra clothing?! Holy shit, Jesus was a communist!

Face it, the message of social justice that many Christian faiths actively promote simply does not jive with the Republican platform, which is a platform of selfishness, plain and simple. You can try to spin this any way you want, but when you boil it down, you just don’t want to give your money up to help people. “It’s mine. Mine, mine, MINE!”

The other big thing that’s been on the news is that da freakin’ pope has had a massive role in covering up all the kiddie diddling in the Church. The late Pope John Paul II is possibly even under scrutiny, which could cost him his canonization. As for Ratzinger, I honestly think that we are going to see him step down. It would be the first time a pope has resigned in almost 600 years, but it isn’t unheard of. In fact, another Pope Benedict, Benedict IX, was kicked out, came back, resigned, came back, and then got kicked out again and was excommunicated.

To me, the only way out of this scandal is for Ratzinger to bow out and to have a new pope elected who will decree that all clergy is accountable to secular laws first, and then to church laws.

This Is An Outrage!

February 17, 2010 by Brandon | 2 Comments

Rachael Harrington of the Sacramento Area Coalition of Reason probably isn’t very happy today. A billboard which the Coalition of Reason paid to put up on a stretch of road was vandalized; the original message was inoffensive enough, stating, “Are you without God? Millions are.” However, someone felt the need to tag at the end, “ALSO LOST?”

Now, I’m not so much concerned about the actual vandalism. Honestly, I don’t really expect anything less of the moral religious community. I think what really is getting me is the outrage at atheists over their annoyance that their property was vandalized. Yeah. You heard that right. There are people somehow spinning this, making the atheists the bad guys because they’re annoyed that someone ruined their billboard, calling atheists a bunch of whiny hypocrites that can dish it out but can’t take it.

Can’t take what? Destruction of property based on your insecurity about a message that isn’t a criticism of you? A message that isn’t even directed at you? Says a lot, if you ask me.

What is Fractal Wrongness?

The state of being wrong at every conceivable scale of resolution. That is, from a distance, a fractally wrong person's worldview is incorrect; and furthermore, if you zoom in on any small part of that person's worldview, that part is just as wrong as the whole worldview.
